KWVE (660 kHz) is a radio station broadcasting a Christian format. Licensed to Oildale, California, USA, it serves the Bakersfield area. The station is owned by Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa.
The station went on the air as KGDP on 1987-07-04. On 1989-10-15, the station changed its call sign to KSMI and on 1990-01-22 back to KGDP.[2]
KGDP and its sister station, KGDP-FM 90.5 of Santa Maria, California, was originally owned locally by a Christian group, People of Action, through licensee Radio Representatives, Inc.
In August 2008, People of Action declared bankruptcy, leading to KGDP and KGDP-FM to cease all operations on August 31, 2008.
In November 2009, Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa acquired the station, switching it to a rebroadcaster of its San Clemente station, KWVE-FM. KGDP-FM would be sold earlier that year to Family Life Radio.
